​A young Cherokee man is rejected by the army due to his hearing loss, so he becomes a reporter and is dropped into the hills of Italy with the 82nd Airborne and fights alongside them in one of the most brutal and consequential battles of WWII, leaving him scarred for life until he enters a recovery center where other maimed veterans help him face his trauma.
